For instance, you could show up in magazine ads, newspapers, billboards, social media ads, and even TV commercials. You are not limited as a print model and will have the chance to grow your career and your image. Print modeling is not as glamorous as runway or fashion modeling. Top Ways to Become a Print Model:
1. Figure Out What Type of Print Modeling You Want to Do
As I mentioned before, print modeling is full of variety. As a model, you will be able to choose from a number of niches. In addition, print modeling can be done by all kinds of models. Modeling in this field is more diverse. So, plus sized models, and other types of models will find opportunities as a print model. You could even end up doing large ad campaigns for companies if you play your cards right. However, you want to focus on the type of print modeling you are interested in first.
Are you planning to model clothes, makeup, and other beauty and fashion accessories? Or are you interested in promoting other types of products? Ask yourself these questions beforehand. And realize that some areas of print modeling might not be suitable for you.
Fashion oriented print modeling, for example, will require certain beauty standards and proportions. So, keep this all in mind.
2. Create a Social Media Account
Exposure is important for any type of modeling. Scouts and modeling agents are always on the lookout for potential models. However, you want to increase your chances of being discovered. You could wait for an agent to notice you, or you could take matters into your own hands. Really, creating a social media page is extremely important in this day and age. Many professional models create online accounts to promote themselves and their looks. And, as a new model, you will need to promote yourself, as well.
You might not get noticed by an agent or agency right away, but you want to give yourself every chance for success. So, create an Instagram page and start posting pictures as soon as possible. If you are wondering what kind of pictures you should post, I’ll talk more about the style and look you should go for in a later section of this post.
3. Research Modeling Agencies
Not every model joins an agency. However, I recommend looking into your local modeling agencies and setting up an interview. You may decide that you want to work as a freelancer. But, it doesn’t hurt to get yourself acquainted with local modeling agents. Modeling agencies help open doors for your modeling career. You will have an easier time getting jobs and managing your life with the help of professionals. So, consider joining a reputable agency.
And make sure to do your research on any agency you plan on joining beforehand.

4. Take Care of Your Body and Your Health
Models need to stay active and healthy to be successful. You don’t have to be super skinny or rail-thin to get a modeling job. Again, there are opportunities for people of all sizes and shapes in print modeling. Still, you want to stay in top shape if you are going to model for a long period of time. And, if you are going to model for major clothing brands, lingerie, or swimwear, you have to look fit. I recommend hitting the gym regularly.
Track your level of fitness, and create some goals for yourself. Supplement any workouts with a clean and filling diet, as well.
5. Enhance Your Natural Beauty
As a model, you need to have a certain level of physical beauty. You don’t have to be drop-dead gorgeous to be a print model. But you should have a symmetrical and pleasing face. You want to stand out among other modeling candidates after all. To help you with this, I recommend enhancing your look with simple self-care techniques. Wash your face daily so that your skin stays clear and fresh looking. Get your hair cut professionally too. This way your face is framed nicely with your hairstyle.
Really, there are many simple techniques you can use to make yourself look better.
6. Simplify Your Style and Look
In addition to this, try and enhance your natural beauty with basic makeup and clothes. For instance, when you post pictures of yourself online, don’t overdo your makeup. You also want to wear more simple clothes. Neutral colored shirts with jeans are a staple outfit for models. This more natural look helps emphasize your features. In fact, many modeling directors and agents like to see this type of styling.
7. Don’t Give Up
Finally, in order to be a print model, you want to be persistent. Models face rejection when they go to casting calls and jobs. This is an inevitable part of your career. However, if you continue to go to casting calls, and don’t give up, you will find work! It will take time to get where you want to be in your modeling career. But, you have to keep pushing yourself in order to see results!
